Vintage MCM Original Oil Painting San Francisco Cable Car John Checkley for sale in Jupiter, FL

1 of 1
John Checkley, originally from New Zealand, called The Bay Area his home beginning in 1955. This is an original oil painting showing a cable car coming up the hill. It was purchased by my family when visiting San Francisco in the late 1960's or early 70's. I believe it was either purchased in a gallery found within The St Francis Hotel ( now the Westin St Francis) on Union Square or in Checkley's own gallery near the Wharf. The frame is solid wood. The matting is woven fabric. There are some minor markings. Please see them in photos... a pointer was used to show the locations. I thought I would leave it up to the buyer to try to remove them. When hanging on the wall, they really are not very noticeable. This painting has always been in my family in a smoke free environment. We need to downsize. I'm just hoping this goes to a good home where it will be appreciated. Measurements can be found in photos. Please take a moment to read my feedback and buy with confidence. Thank you for looking!
