The Technician is a member of the GI team who contributes to the comfort and well being of the patients by performing specifically assigned tasks and works under the direction of the GI nurse manager.
The GI Lab technician also manually cleans and disinfects the endoscopes utlilized in all the GI Lab and procedures.
The GI Lab technician maintains the disinfectant solutions, assists with monitoring the quality of the solutions and the effectiveness of the reprocessing procedure The GI Lab Technician will assist the physicians during procedures (under the direction of the RN) with biopsies, therapeutics techniques, polypectomies, PEGs, ERCPs, specimen collection, EUS, bleeding therapeutics (clips, banders) etc.

Demonstrates the ability to function as an assistant in GI procedures Provides timely, accurate and complete documentation in decontamination room of all QI logs.
Promotes a safe error free working environment by consistently performing thorough infection prevention measures.
Assumes active role in orienting, coaching and mentoring of new staff in order to increase 1 year retention rates Requirements High school graduate or equivalent American Heart Association BLS, for Heath Care Provider.
